Ngorongoro highland trekking 7 days
Ngorongoro crater is one of the world’s ultimate natural multiplicand use. which is Home to over 120 species of mammal including the fabled Big Five, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is one of the most sought after safari destinations in the world. It's a particularly good place to see the endangered black rhinoceros enjoying a lonely meal out on the grassy plains, as well as a place to see large numbers of hippopotamus enjoying the cool water.
This area is just a small part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area which offers a long range of tourist attractions. You will trek through the Ngorongoro conservation area pass through grassy plains, explore extinct volcanoes, wildlife and diverse savannah landscape of the Rift Valley.it a great opportunity to escape the crowds from the game drive. Immerse yourself to the beautiful culture of Maasai who lives in this area and understands their lifestyle.
You will visit Olmoti Crater, Empakai crater, and trek to Ol Donyo Lengai you will spend a night with Maasai. From Empakai we will change the means of transport and go back to our ancestor’s age where we will experience the use of donkey.
Day 1: Half Day Ngorongoro Crater to Bullati Maasai Village via Olmoti Crater
After breakfast you will have a comprehensive briefing about your tour, you depart from Arusha town with packed lunch and drive via the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater which is home to over 120 species of mammal including the fabled Big Five, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is one of the most sought after safari destinations in the world. It's a particularly good place to see the endangered black rhinoceros enjoying a lonely meal out on the grassy plains, as well as a place to see large numbers of hippopotamus enjoying the cool water. Enjoy your lunch at the hippo pool picnic site inside the crater. Afternoon exits the crater and drives to Bullati Village via Olmoti crater.
Olmoti crater: Upon arrival at Olmoti Crater, you step out of the car and hike to the rim of the crater for an astounding view of the green paradise that exists within this lost world. Take photos and hike back to the car and drive to Bullati Maasai village where you will spend the night with villagers. We will have a campfire at night and you will get a chance to meet the Maasai people and exchange cultural also you can participate in Maasai traditional dancing. This will be a good moment for you because you will learn the meaning of names and know where they came from and how these people arrived in this area.
Day 2:- Bullati Maasai Village to Empakai Crater
Today we meet up with our porters and donkeys and walk, no more driving. Today you will walk for about 4 hours through the beautiful scenery. There are some ups and downs but generally, it is a pleasant walk. Upon arrival at Empakai Crater, you walk to the crater floor and there you will hopefully see many animals such as Buffaloes, Thompson’s Gazelle and many Flamingos. Empakai Crater offers a magnificent view of the green paradise that exists within this lost world, from Ol Doinyo Lengai, a still-active volcano to the Lake Natron, the great Rift Valley and even distant Mount Kilimanjaro on a clear day. You will have your picnic lunch in the crater. In the afternoon you hike back up to the rim where you will have dinner and camp for the night.
After breakfast, the journey goes up a hill from where you have a last panoramic view of the grassy plains below. The trek continues up and down through the bushy landscape which finally opens up to the active volcano, Oldonyo Lengai. The trek gives you great views of the majestic volcano as well as into the impressive Empakai Crater before reaching the campsite for the night. You can explore the crater on a well-maintained path, you descend to the Lake Empakai inside the crater.
This alkaline soda lake is an important food source for flamingos, which can be seen throughout the year. While wandering along the shores of Empakai Lake, you'll have the chance to see waterbucks, bushbucks, and eland. Far removed from the hustle and bustle of the regular tourist attractions, you'll be moved by the silence and serenity of this land that time forgot. Returning to camp supper will be waiting for you. During the night you might hear the flamingos call as they fly back to their breeding nests at Lake Manyara and Lake Natron.
Day 4 Empakai Crater – Acacia Camp
Today you will hike to the Masai village Naiyobi and following a good path, the village as well as Oldonyo Lengai, an active volcano, can be seen from a distance. Arriving in the late afternoon, you'll have the opportunity to meet with the friendly Maasai people who call this beautiful valley home, as well as paying a visit to a local school and sampling traditional Maasai meals. The trek leaves the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the landscape becomes drier and warmer. You'll then set up camp and overnight in an acacia forest not far from the village.
Approximately hours walk beginning the early morning after breakfast walking downhill following the dusty paths and off the crater highlands to Mounwongoni Maasai village. It is 11 km, Overnight at the camp on the edge of the village
This part of the trek is for the great views of Oldonyo Lengai, Lake Natron and the Rift Valley. The rugged countryside looks almost surreal covered by grey ash of the last eruption in 2007. The trek descends down into the dry and hot Rift Valley, where the ash can be seen up close.
Day 6: Trek to Oldonyo Lengai-2870meters
Oldoinyo Lengai (2870meters) (9650 ft) south of Lake Natron in the eastern rift valley of North Tanzania, lies Mount Ol Doinyo Lengai. The name derived from Maasai language the native Maasai who refers the mountain as the “Holy Mountain of God”, Early morning 03 am-04 am we leave before the sunrise and get too hot, following the winding path across bare volcanic rocks and dusty lava soil. Reach at the summit during sunrise and spend some time there before coming down to the base of the mountain. From there, clients will be transferred by jeep to Ngaresero Campsite for shower and rest. The camp is set near the river and a bath here is very refreshing, afternoon we walk to the Ngaresero waterfalls you will be guided by the Maasai local guide.
Day 7: Lake Natron to Arusha Onwards to the airport
workup before sunrise and drive to the Lake Natron It is a bizarrely beautiful breeding ground and home to thousands of Flamingos feeding on the blue algae. Sunrise here provides a panoramic view of the valley and decorate your photos. Feel and enjoy the scenery along the lakeshore breakfast will be served here.
Enjoy a leisurely morning walk around Lake Natron and its surrounds. Known both for its unique volcanic landscape and the large flocks of brightly colored flamingos that call it home, Lake Natron's isolation also means that you have a good chance of having the area to yourself. Expect to see wildlife such as zebra, wildebeest, oryx, ostriches, kudu, gerenuk, and jackals in addition to the lake's resident flamingos, but it is the area's distinct mix of ravines, craters, and lakes that make it such a unique location. around 10 am return to your camp pack your luggage and drive to Arusha we can to the restaurant for lunch this will be on your cost then we proceed to the airport.
